Popping
Popping is a street dance style that originated in the late 1960s to early 1970s, primarily in California. It is characterized by its distinct technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a “pop” or sudden jerk in the dancer’s body. This technique is known as “hitting” or “popping,” and it creates a sharp, rhythmic effect in the dancer’s movements. Popping has been a major influence on the development of other street dance styles and continues to be a vibrant and dynamic form of dance in both competitive and performance settings.
